Final blog

The last blog entry for this semester is about an article i read about Sigmund Freud's theory on the structure of personality. I got kinda bored and ended up looking this up. I thought it was a very interesting article though. It just talks about how we have to struggle with what we want vs what is realistic vs what is right. I cant really say this article had any E's for it other than education.

Week 14

I chose to do my blog this week on an article that I read on Jeep Magazine. The article was titled 50 Ways To Lighten Your Jeep, written by Christian Hazel. This article goes over some pretty cool information about ways to reduce the total weight of your jeep wrangler. This is beneficial for offroad as less weight means more capability in most situations. Some of these ideas are very clever, such as using hollow bolts and shaved gearsets for differentials. This article demonstrates Education, and Entertainment.

Week 13

I read an article somewhere about Mike Rowe and what he had said about the presidential election. This article is not the exact one I wrote but it does say some of the things that stuck with me. Mike Rowe draws parallels between his show, Dirty Jobs, and the presidential election. He states that his show kinda made regular every day working class people that they can be seen. He says this is on of the reasons Trump did so well with the middle class, Trump made it feel like he could see us. This article has entertainment, and enlightenment value.

week 12

The article I chose to write about was one that I found on a 4x4 website titled Jeep Cherokee Buyers Guide. I love this article. it is about what to look for when buying a used jeep Cherokee. The jeep Cherokee is the best bang for your buck jeep possibly ever created. Very cheap, but at the same time very tough. This article covers lots of educational content down to every axle, trans, transfer case combo ever put in these things from their introduction in the 80s. There is also some humor found in it if you are a car guy. I  love how the article refers to the 4.0 inline six as "bomb proof." It is.

week 11

this blog is about an article titled Election Day 2016: A Historic Day Arrives by Stephen Collinson. I read this article because I am both nervous and excited for this election. I want to get it over with, I am so tired of hearing about it, and all the lies that go with that. I am nervous because I don't want to accidentally elect the antichrist. this article demonstrates emotion. this article does feel biased toward Hillary Clinton though.

week 10

My post is about an article I read that detailed a dana 44 swap from a Honda passport into a jeep tj. I found this article very interesting because the popular swap for dana 35 jeep tjs is just a dana 44 out of better equipped jeep or an 8.8 swap out of a Ford Explorer. This article displays the 4 es with education, entertainment, and enlightenment. The article is a tech article so it is fairly dry but it does have entertainment value based on the light humor and tone of the article. its meant for the grease monkeys.

Blog week 9

The article I am using for this blog is not an article really but a Wikipedia page. I happened to see something on the internet about Jack Kevorkian and I thought it was very interesting. Jack Kevorkian is the guy who advocated physician assisted suicide. Many people did not like the idea of Mr. Kevorkian offering patients suffering terminal illnesses a painless way out. I don't really see a problem with it, I think it should definitely be an option for well, everybody really. The thanatron was his first way of euthanasia, by administering basically a lethal injection. The second which I find very interesting for its simplicity and ease of use, was called the mercitron. This device could be used by the patient themselves. Basically a gas mask hooked up to a bottle of carbon monoxide, you crack the valve, breath until you pass out, then die from lack of oxygen in your sleep. very painless, and humane. This article was very entertaining as well as educational for me, although very grim.

Week 7

Blog week 7. I am doing this blog on an article i read online titled Master the Muscle Up, written by Chris Giblin. I have been trying to do one of these muscle ups for years now. Simply do a pull up, over the bar and push yourself up into a tricep extension. Sounds pretty easy, looks really easy, not very easy in practice. I have only seen two people do this in person. Both were under 160 lbs, very fit people. The article is mostly an Educational piece to me, as well as Entertainment.

Blog Week 8

I am doing my weekly blog on an article I saw on the New York Times. I will post the link at the end of this. So the article was called "We Should Take a Drug Test Before Debate, Donald Trump Says. Written by Nick Corasaniti. The article is about some weird things that Mr. Trump has said . Nothing really too surprising to be honest. In terms of 4 Es value, this article was Entertaining and somewhat Educational.

blog week 6

Ross Loudermilk

The title of the article i picked is Driveway Diagnostics : Map Sensor by Christian Hazel. In the first paragraph the author engages the reader by asking them a direct question and using humor to drive the intro to the article. This is a very education based article. I chose this article because i was looking for other information about how to trick the powertrain control module. Although i did not find the information here it was still nice to freshen up on some things.

Blog week somethin.

The article I am doing this week is called "7 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Running" by Jason Fitzgerald. This article is basically about how Jason has spent the better part of 13 years working on getting to be a better runner and making mistakes which cost him injury in the past. In terms of 4 e's I think educational is the strongest one showcased in the article, as he states through trial and error he figured out how running best works for his body. Another E is entertainment because I found it very entertaining when he talks about how often you should "see god" during a workout hah!

woobie 4 life

The article I am writing about today is  titled " Why The Woobie Is The Greatest Military Invention Ever Fielded" By Angry Staff Officer. No I do not know the authors real name. It is an entirely serious yet comical article that any veteran will understand. I chose this article because I have had my woobie for 5 years now and I can honestly say that I still use it every single night when I sleep. They say its the most commonly kept item when people get out of the army, I would have to agree. One of the four Es used in the article over and over is entertainment. Like when the author says "No matter what you call it, is it really like a security blanket? The answer is a resounding, Hell yes!". If you don't know about all the uses for this blanket then this article definitely will have educational value for you. Its a pillow, mattress, shelter, and a total lifeline if you are out in the field roughing it. They sell em on amazon for 40 bucks, which is a totally fair price because it will seemingly never ever go bad.

This is the link to the article. Give it a read.

overtraining

I don't really have much else going for me other than fitness, recovery, and playing with my dogs, so bear with me. my article was titled, Overtraining can kill you: the 3 stages of overtraining part 1. The author is Andrew Read.  This article caught my eye because I usually train way too hard way too often as a way of keeping out of my head so to speak. This usually leads to injury and severe fatigue so I just thought it would be interesting to read more into it. The article goes into some detail about different stages of stress adaptation and where when used properly can lead to improved performance and also when used incorrectly can be detrimental to performance. In terms of 4 es it goes as follows: emotion- N/A; entertainment- I read this kind of stuff all the time so obviously I find it very interesting, I like the science aspect of it; enlightenment- I do feel like I need to take a look at myself after reading it so I would call that enlightenment; education- absolutely the strongest factor for me. I love learning more about how the body/ mind work. Not much sugar coating/ making this blog look good but uhh... its all good. have a good weekend everybody.
